Vidocq Runtime 0.3.0 is now a certified Jakarta EE Core Profile 11 compatible implementation. The compatibility certification request has been approved by the Jakarta EE Specification Committee — the final step of a conformance effort we have been documenting on this blog since the 0.3.0 release.
What certification means
Jakarta EE certification is not a badge you claim — it is a request the specification project reviews and approves, backed by a reproducible TCK run against the official Eclipse Foundation TCK (EFTL) binaries. Ours was executed against the actual released Maven Central artifacts, not source snapshots, and every step is public.
The numbers
| Specification | Result |
|---|---|
Jakarta Annotations 3.0 |
1/1 passed |
Jakarta Contexts and Dependency Injection (Lite) 4.1 + Interceptors 2.2 |
774/774 passed |
Jakarta Dependency Injection 2.0 |
pass ( |
Jakarta JSON Processing 2.1 |
179/179 (api) + 18/18 (pluggability) passed, 0 failures |
Jakarta JSON Binding 3.0 |
295 run, 0 failures, 5 skipped |
Jakarta RESTful Web Services 4.0 |
2670 run, 0 failures, 131 skipped |
Core Profile 11 composite TCK |
10/13 passed |
All six constituent specification TCKs and every required signature test are
green. The Core Profile composite TCK itself stands at 10/13: the 3 remaining
tests hit a JDK 25 StackWalker/Utils.getDescriptor() TCK-helper
incompatibility, unreachable on any JDK 25 implementation regardless of
conformance. We filed a challenge,
jakartaee/platform-tck#2730,
which the TCK project accepted — the fix already exists upstream and will ship
in a future official TCK release.
The full results, TCK versions, SHA-256 fingerprints, and GPG signature
verification are on the
public certification page, and the complete
process is documented in
CERTIFICATION.md.
Thank you
Thanks to the Jakarta EE Specification Committee for reviewing the request, and to everyone in the community who pushed on the JDK 25 TCK-helper issue so the challenge could be accepted quickly. Vidocq can now carry the Jakarta EE Compatible mark for Core Profile 11 and be listed as a compatible product — one more proof point that a from-scratch, zero-dependency, AI-assisted implementation can meet the same bar as any other.
Get started with the certified runtime:
curl -fsSL https://vidocq.dev/install.sh | sh
vidocq create --name hello-world --group-id com.example
cd hello-world
vidocq dev
The documentation and the tutorials cover the rest.
